Air quality concerns now, fog tonight, hot tomorrow
An air quality advisory remains in effect for part of Southeast Michigan, including Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw, and Wayne counties, until midnight.
Pollutants are forecast to reach the "unhealthy range sensitive groups," such as individuals with asthma and other respiratory diseases and disorders.
Daytime heating and light winds are contributing to the concentration of ozone. It is recommended to "avoid strenuous outdoor activities" during the alert. People can limit their contribution to ozone formation by waiting to refuel, driving less, not grilling, and not using gas-powered lawn equipment.
TONIGHT:
It will be partly cloudy and comfortable, but patchy fog will develop in Southeast Michigan. It could become dense in some spots. Lows will be in the upper 50s. Winds will be out of the south-southeast at 4 to 8 mph.
TOMORROW (SUNDAY):
After the morning fog dissipates, it will be mostly sunny to partly sunny. It will become hot and sticky as temperatures push into the lower to mid 80s. A few showers and thunderstorms will pop up during the afternoon and evening. Winds will be out of the south-southwest at 5 to 10 mph.
Lots of sunshine will require precautions while in the sunlight. The UV index will be in the very high range during the afternoon. Some individuals may develop sunburn in as little as 15 to 25 minutes without protection. Applying sunscreen and wearing light-colored and lightweight long-sleeve shirts are ways to protect yourself.
TOMORROW NIGHT:
The chance of showers and thunderstorms will last into the evening. Under partly cloudy skies, lows will be in the lower 60s.
MONDAY:
Plan for partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid 80s. At night, a few showers will be possible late as lows fall to the mid 60s.
