DETROIT – A patrol supervisor and the driver involved have been hospitalized after a T-bone crash on Detroit’s east side.

The crash occurred on Wednesday (May 15) at 7:24 p.m. in the area of John R Street and 7 Mile Road while the patrol supervisor responded to a “Shotspotter” call to assist other officers.

While approaching the intersection with the police, sirens, and lights activated in a semi-marked vehicle, officials say while other vehicles stopped, the driver T-boned the supervisor.

Officials say the driver and the supervisor were transported to Metro Detroit hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the crash and will supply an update when one is available.
